Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company presents dance works that illuminate everyday encounters, transform the mundane into the meaningful, and remind us that what we do matters. Though she creates her dances in silence, Hamrick often collaborates with composers and musicians, as well as visual artists and videographers, for the final product. Most of her dances run approximately one hour. The company currently has seven professional, paid dancers on a 10 month contract who perform in two premieres each season as well as in festivals such as Austin Dance Festival, Dance Gallery, the Toronto Fringe Festival, and Barnstorm Dance Fest. Company dancers rehearse four days a week, participate in school performances, and have the opportunity to teach for the DEA’s Youth Dance Program.
Stephen Pruitt is the company’s resident Lighting Designer and Technical Director as well as a crucial artistic collaborator. He has an innovative idea for every new work, and a solution for every problem.
