conspire v. to join or act together

Each artistic season begins with new hopes and dreams. Even as we reflect with pride and gratitude on the achievements of the previous year, we are gearing up to meet the challenges of a new year: creating and performing new works to growing audiences in Austin and other cities and expanding our enrichment programs for at-risk children and teens. We need a core group of co-conspirators to make our new dreams a reality.

Thanks to much collaboration with donors, dancers, board members, presenters, musicians, writers, designers and a corps of volunteers, our 2004-2005 season brought us great success:
-
KDHDC premiered new works to music by three Austin composers in New York, San Francisco and Austin, and then returned to New York to perform at the renowned PS122 for The Field’s First Annual GoTour Road Show.
-
We were not only onstage and on the road; we were in print and on-line. Thanks to the creative work of Jolly Design (and a generous in-kind contribution from Jolly), our new website is up and running. Neil Ellis Orts profiled the company for The Langdon Review, and our teen programs were featured in The Utopian, UT’s School of Social Work Newsletter.
-
Combining fun with serious life lessons, eighty second-graders at Smith Elementary in Del Valle made shapes, jumped through the air, turned and balanced on one leg in our Young Dancers program.

So what are our goals for our 2005-2006 season?
-
Sustain and grow our teen enrichment programs, To the Dance and Creativity Circle
-
Expand Young Dancers, our creative movement program for second graders at Smith Elementary, to include third graders
-
Collaborate with local artists, musicians and designers to create challenging and meaningful new works to delight our ever-expanding audience
-
Continue to build our touring opportunities
-
Develop new and sustainable institutional funding sources for our enrichment and creative programs

Our annual fundraising gala kicks off the artistic season and provides the major source of funding we must have to fulfill our hopes for the new season. We need you to conspire with us to make “The Co-Conspirator” a success:
-
Make a cash donation. Write a check to KDHDC and mail it to KDHDC, Box 160432, Austin, TX 78716
-
Donate merchandise or a gift certificate to be used in our silent auction or raffle.

You’ll receive a tax receipt for your contribution, plus all the advantages of our donor benefits.
-
Join us for “The Co-Conspirator,” at Austin’s Scottish Rite Theater on Friday, November 11th, and let us show our appreciation with live music, refreshments and a performance by the dance company.

Conspire with us to build our most successful season yet!
