Integrating fun with serious intent to transform lives.

It’s important to us to make a positive difference in our community. That’s why, in addition to presenting original dances for the general public, we direct New Art Kinnections (NAK), a unique arts education program that offers free creativity workshops and free creative movement classes to underserved youth.

We currently work in collaboration with the Settlement Home, a non-profit organization that provides residential treatment and therapeutic foster care for emotionally disturbed adolescent girls. Interested teens participate in creativity workshops, attend dance performances, and produce their own culminating showing at Café Dance. Younger girls have to opportunity to participate in creative movement classes on-site at the Settlement Home.

The continuing success of our outreach program depends heavily on Barbara Jo Stetzelberger, LCSW-DTR, an experienced dancer, arts educator, social worker and dance therapist. She has the expertise necessary to address clinical issues such as impulse control, problem-solving and conflict resolution, issues which often surface when working with a high-risk population. Through the study of improvisational dance and the creative process, our participants develop emotional intelligence, critical thinking skills, and an appreciation of various cultures and perspectives.

In addition to our partnership with the Settlement Home, we have facilitated creative movement classes and other creative residencies for numerous schools and other youth-oriented organizations. Please contact us if you are interested in bringing us to your school or organization.
