If you walk past the Commons at Smith Elementary,
you’ll see children making shapes: spiraling shapes, connecting
shapes, shapes close to the ground and shapes high in the air.
Or they might be leaping, turning or balancing on one leg. Maybe
they are following Cherami, their teacher, trying to match the
direction and quality of her movements. Whatever they happen to
be working on that particular day, they will be smiling.
Young Dancers is our New Art Kinnections component for elementary
school children. In weekly dance classes, students focus on the
process of creating and
crafting movement. Challenging improvisations and movement studies
emphasize
self-discovery and encourage children to think creatively and
work independently. Students are encouraged to experiment, to explore
options, to problem-solve and to make individual choices while
exploring elements of space, time and energy.

school, please contact our Managing
Director.
